UCO To Stage Shakespeare's 'Henry V'

Sept. 26, 2012

The University of Central Oklahoma College of Fine Arts and Design will present "Henry V," William Shakespeare's historical drama about Henry V's conquest of France, at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4 – 6 and 2 p.m. Oct. 7 in Mitchell Hall Theater.

UCO will stage the play set in the 15th century, the time period in which the play was written, complete with historical costuming and weaponry.

"This play offers all aspects of good theater: love, comedy, combat and tragedy," said Jerry Ferraccio, M.F.A., UCO Theatre Arts Department guest director.

"Also, the acting is incredible.  The students are so talented and hungry for knowledge.  They have approached their roles with great passion and dedication.  It's going to be a great show," he continued.

Ferraccio is a graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, Southern Oregon University, and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival's Professional Actor/M.F.A. program.

Ferraccio currently resides in Santa Fe, N.M., where he co-founded the Santa Fe Theatre Guild and the Santa Fe Shakespeare Society.  He is currently the society's production coordinator.  Additionally, he is a member of the founding committee for the Northern New Mexico Conservatory for the Performing Arts.

This production of "Henry V" is part of the UCO Passport program, which selects a country or region to celebrate during the fall semester annually.  This semester Central chose to celebrate England, Shakespeare's native country.

The mission of the program is to inspire unity and understanding in the global community, while providing educational and entertaining events for Central students and the surrounding community.  Visit for a complete listing of UCO Passport events and information.
