The University of Central Oklahoma's School of Music presents its fall choral concert, featuring the work of several new music composers at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 16, at Mitchell Hall Theater.
The UCO Concert Chorale will be performing contemporary pieces they recently performed at the College Music Society National Conference in Minneapolis, Minn., including "There Is No Rose of Such Virtue" by Bonnie Mikcsh, "Shi No Haiku" by Christopher Palestrant and "Litany," a setting of Langston Hughes poetry by Timothy Hoekman.
In addition, Central's Cantilena Women's Chorus will perform music by Dufay, Bach and Stroope, among other pieces.
"We are very happy to welcome Dr. Darla Eshelman to the Central's choral division, as this will be her first concert as the conductor of Cantilena," said Karl Nelson, Central professor and director of choral studies.
Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, non-UCO students and UCO faculty and staff and $4 for UCO students with ID. For tickets, call (405) 974-3375.
