UCO Department of Art Hosts Nationally Exhibited Guest Artist Gina Adams for Workshop, Lecture

October 30, 2013

The University of Central Oklahoma Department of Art will present an open-to-the-public lecture by guest artist Gina Adams, M.F.A., from 5-6 p.m. Nov. 11 in UCO’s Education Building, Room 115.

As an artist accomplished in the mediums of sculptures, ceramics, painting, printmaking and drawing, Adams’s lecture will focus on both her work and the use of encaustic paint.

Adams’s work has been exhibited throughout the nation and reflects Native American culture.

“Her work targets the rediscovery of her cultural roots,” said Barbara Broadwell, M.F.A., associate professor of art.

Adams is well versed in encaustic paint, an ancient medium that fuses color wax and resin to make a translucent and rich paint for sculptures.

She will also present a workshop on encaustic paint from noon-4:30 p.m. Nov. 11.  Limited space is available.

“I’ve taken a workshop with Gina before and in addition to being a gifted artist she is a thorough instructor,” said Broadwell.

Those interested in attending the workshop should contact Broadwell at bbroadwell@uco.edu.
