UCO's 5th Street Jazz Collective to Perform with Trombonist John Fedchock at UCO Jazz Lab

  The University of Central Oklahoma School of Music will present a performance by the faculty ensemble 5th Street Jazz Collective and world-class guest trombonist John Fedchock at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at the UCO Jazz Lab, 100 E. Fifth Street in Edmond.          

“John is an internationally recognized jazz composer, arranger, trombonist and clinician, and we are thrilled to have him at the UCO Jazz Lab,” said Brian Gorrell, director of Central’s jazz studies and saxophonist for the 5th Street Jazz Collective.          

The 5th Street Jazz Collective will open the concert with their original faculty combo: trumpet player Lee Rucker, trombonist Jeff Kidwell, pianist Dennis Borycki, guitarist Danny Vaughan, bassist Michael Geib, D.M., and drummer David Hardman.          

The 5th Street Jazz Collective will then be joined by Fedchock for an assortment of both small group arrangements and full jazz ensemble pieces.  For the full jazz ensemble, top jazz students will perform alongside Fedchock and the faculty combo.          

This concert is a part of the Faculty Artist Concert Series, a yearlong performance series that highlights the talents of Central music faculty members.  All performances take place on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. at the Jazz Lab with proceeds supporting scholarships and the UCO School of Music          

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling the UCO School of Music at 405-974-5004.  Admission is free for Central students, faculty and staff with a Central I.D.
