The University of Central Oklahoma Theatre Arts Department will premiere the one-act play “VOICED: The Real Story of Prostituted Women” at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 19-20 in Pegasus Theater located in the UCO Liberal Arts Building.          

“VOICED” is written and directed by College of Fine Arts and Design students Summer Nolan and Claudia Fain.  They want to raise awareness about prostituted women in the United States – Oklahoma specifically.

Nolan said she hopes the show educates the audience and provides them with the opportunity to help solve the problems of forced prostitution within Oklahoma communities, as well as internationally.          

“’VOICED’ has been a very collaborative effort.  The Central theatre arts and music theatre faculty members have been very supportive of our efforts,” said Nolan, writer/director of “VOICED.”          

“The show is part of a grass roots movement intended to raise awareness about the sex trade, a real issue that involves a multitude of victims across the United States and world. I am honored to be a part of such an important cause.”          

Following the show, a panel of people representing the UCO Violence Prevention Project, Oklahomans Against Trafficking Humans (OATH), and No Boundaries will be present for a question/answer session with audience members about the sex trade.
