The University of Central Oklahoma's Senior Art Exhibition will open with a reception from 6-9 p.m. on Nov. 19 at the Individual Artists of Oklahoma (IAO) Gallery, located at 706 W. Sheridan in the Film Row district of downtown Oklahoma City. The exhibition will continue through Dec. 3.
The work exhibited deals with themes of crossing the boundaries of personal identity, the decay of modern society and expressing the sensations and perceptions of making art.
"The capstone show is what every new artist dreams of-an amazing opportunity that marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter," said Christie Hackler, a senior art major from Edmond.
"Though this exhibition truly is a bittersweet ending, it is also the beginning of a brand new journey."
The work exhibited includes painting, printmaking, mixed media, ceramics, metalsmithing and installations.
"We are excited that our senior exhibition will be showing simultaneously with the Creativity World Forum events across the city this month. This will provide Central students the opportunity for an international audience at this culminating point in their education," said Elizabeth Brown, Central art professor.
The reception is free and open to the public. For more information on the Central Senior Art Exhibition, contact the Department of Art at (405) 974-5201.
