The University of Central Oklahoma’s Wind Symphony will present its Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 24 at UCO’s newly-renovated Mitchell Hall Theater.
The Wind Symphony is Central’s premiere performing ensemble in the wind and percussion division. For this concert, the Symphony will welcome several School of Music faculty members as special guests: trumpeter Lee Rucker, violinist Dr.Hong Zhu, and cellist Dr. Tess Remy-Schumacher. Musical selections will include “Emmanuel,” “Sleigh Ride,” “A Christmas Festival,” “Out and Back Again,” “After-Word” and “Mock-Morris.”
“Not only will the audience get an opportunity to hear some holiday favorites, but they’ll also get to hear some of our fantastic School of Music faculty as soloists with the
group,” said Lamb, who is in his ninth year as Central’s Band Director and Wind Symphony conductor.
Lamb also said that “this is going to be a really interesting concert because the Wind Symphony has been chosen to perform as an Honor Band at the Oklahoma Music Educators Association convention in January and we are rehearsing part of the program in this concert.”
Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for Central faculty & staff and senior citizens, $4 for Central students and will be available at the door. For more information, please contact Central’s School of Music at (405) 974-5004.
