UCO Opera Division Presents a Evening of Light-Hearted Operettas

November 1, 2013

The University of Central Oklahoma Opera Division presents “Nothin’ Betta than Operetta,” a variety concert of excerpts from a lighter, more comedic genre of opera, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12-14 at the UCO Jazz Lab, 100 E. Fifth Street in Edmond.

Showcasing the talents of close to 25 Central students, the program for the concert is a conscious effort to expose audience members and students to some lesser-known operettas including excerpts from Leonard Berstein’s “Candide” and Johann Strauss’s “Die Fledermaus.”

“This concert will both broaden students repertoire in operetta, a major aspect of the professional world of opera, and provide the community with an evening of light-hearted, quality entertainment,” said Kevin Eckard, D.M.A., head of Central vocal division and director of opera.

Tickets are $5 at the door and can be purchased with cash or check only.
