UCO College of Fine Arts and Design Presents Its Signature Fundraising Event 'Toast to the Maestro'

November 12, 2013

The University of Central Oklahoma College of Fine Arts and Design will present its signature fundraising event “Toast to the Maestro,” featuring the talents of world renowned pianist Valery Kuleshov at 6 p.m., Nov. 25 at the UCO Jazz Lab, 100 E. Fifth Street in Edmond.

An honored artist of the Russian Federation, Kuleshov has won numerous international and national awards, including a silver medal, second prize and special prize at the Ninth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

Kuleshov’s performance program will include works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Sergei Rachmaninov and Nikolai Medtner.  Kuleshov will also perform an original arrangement of Franz Liszt “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 11.”

To help demonstrate the uniqueness of Kuleshov’s arrangement, Central piano student Yeujiao Jin will open the concert with her performance of Liszt’s original composition.

“In addition to these riveting performances, we are excited to present new elements that our attendees are sure to enjoy at this highly-anticipated event,” said Deborah Baucom, development manager for the College of Fine Arts and Design.

New elements include signature cocktails, Joullian wines, heavy hors d’oevours from Boulevard Steakhouse and a silent auction.  Silent auction items have been provided by the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, deadCENTER film, Oklahoma City Civic Center, Edmond Music and Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma.

To make reservations for “Toast to the Maestro,” contact Blair Quiring at or at 405-974-3768.  There is a suggested donation of $50 for the event with all proceeds benefiting the All-Steinway Initiative, an endeavor partnering the UCO School of Music and Edmond Music to fully equip the school with Steinway pianos.

“We are pleased to refocus our development efforts on this important initiative and we know this event will be a strong start,” said Baucom.
