Signup is underway and rehearsals will start soon for the 60th annual LibertyFest UCO Summer Band.
The all-volunteer band, under the direction of conductor Ron Howell, performs popular marches and patriotic selections at the "Concert in the Park," an event that is part of Edmond's annual 4th of July LibertyFest celebration. This year's concert will take place at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 1, on the lawn just north of Mitchell Hall Theater on the UCO Campus.
Community members, college musicians and advanced high school band members are encouraged to join the band. There is no cost to participate and auditions are not required.
Weekly rehearsals will be held from 7-9 p.m. beginning Monday, June 7 in Central's School of Music band room. Rehearsals will continue every Monday until the concert. For more information or to sign up, contact Howell at (405) 974-5752.
