World-Renowned Modern Dance Company Pilobolus To Perform At UCO

March 7, 2013

The University of Central Oklahoma Broadway Tonight Series will present a special performance featuring Pilobolus, world-renowned modern dance company, at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 12 at UCO’s Mitchell Hall Theater.

Founded in 1971 at Dartmouth College and based out of Washington Depot, Conn., Pilobolus has performed live shows in 64 countries and has won numerous prestigious awards including an Emmy Award for outstanding achievement in cultural programming.  Additionally, Pilobolus was honored as the first dance collective to receive the Dance Magazine Award in 2010 and have made television appearances on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and CBS’s “60 Minutes.”

Pilobolus strives to use the human body as a medium for expression and to build community through art.  In addition to performance, Pilobolus teaches its group-based creative process to performers and non-dancers alike through unique educational workshops.

“The audience can expect to be engaged and very much a part of the experience,” said Danielle Greenberg, marketing manager for Pilobolus Dance Theatre.

“Pilobolus is all about collaboration.  Each piece is borne out of our collective creative process, and each performance requires collaboration between performers and audience members.  We’re excited to embark on this wild ride with the Edmond community!”

Tickets are $40 for orchestra seating, $35 for balcony seating and $15 for students.  Tickets can be purchased by calling the Mitchell Hall Theater Box Office at 405-974-3775.
