The University of Central Oklahoma's Symphony Orchestra will present its spring concert at 7:30 p.m., March 29 in Mitchell Hall Theater.
The concert will feature student soloists who were winners of the UCO Symphony Concerto competition, which was held in January.
Edmond native and flutist Delara Hashemi, a senior music education student, will perform "Poeme for Flute and Orchestra" by Charles Griffes. Broken Arrow native and counter-tenor Isaiah Brown, a music graduate student, will perform an aria from Gluck's opera "Orfeo."
In addition, the orchestra will perform a Latin piece, "Danzone #2," by Mexican composer Arturo Márquez, as well as the last three movements of Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony.
"This concert will showcase the talent of two of our finest Central music students in solo performances as well as feature the orchestra in two dazzling show pieces," said Ralph Morris, Ph.D., director of the symphony orchestra.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for Central faculty and staff and senior
citizens, $4 for Central students and will be available in advance or at the door. For tickets, call (405) 974-3375.
