UCO To Present Multi-Media Performance At UCO Jazz Lab

January 13, 2012

The University of Central Oklahoma College of Fine Arts and Design will present "Vital Signs V," a multi-media art collaborative performance at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the UCO Jazz Lab.

The piece, composed and directed by L. Keith White, Ph.D., director of the UCO School of Music, will feature Central faculty musicians, artists and actors collaborating together to deliver a dynamic, unique show that offers opportunities for audience involvement.

"Vital Signs V" is the fifth production in a series of concert presentations that White began in 2001.  The concert will explore what is "vital in the arts" by featuring professional artists and performers in action.

"The show will be similar to a three-ring circus with a lot going on.  It will be a casual, fun evening of entertainment, but will provide audience members with the opportunity to explore the philosophical and intellectual implications of the performance as well," White said.

"The artists, actors, musicians and audience members will all have an affect on each other creating a unique, interactive experience."

The multi-disciplinary performance will spotlight three artists on the stage creating art while musicians play various original electro-acoustic compositions by White.  The art developed throughout the show will be auctioned to audience members during the performance.  All proceeds from the auction will go toward Central student scholarships in music, theatre and art.

Tickets to "Vital Signs V" are $10 and can be purchased by calling (405) 974-5004 or at the door to the event.  The show is free to all Central students with a valid student I.D.
