The University of Central Oklahoma's School of Music will kick off its new Chamber Music Initiative with a progressive chamber music concert at 3 p.m., Jan. 30 in the Center for Transformative Learning.
The concert will feature Central's student quintets, Harmonia Winds, Boulevard Brass and String Quintet, as well as selections from the children's opera "Jack and the Beanstalk."
"The Chamber Music Initiative is a new program that embraces the concept of transformational learning," said Lori Wooden, Central's head of winds and percussion.
"This is a great opportunity to not only tour UCO's newest facility, the Center for Transformative Learning, but to hear four completely different student chamber music ensembles perform."
As a part of the "progressive" element of the concert, the audience will be divided into four groups, and the various ensembles will perform four separate times to each group. Audience members will be escorted to a room with their group to hear one of the chamber music ensembles perform for approximately 12 minutes, and then progress to the three other rooms for performances by the other ensembles.
Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
