The University of Central Oklahoma College of Fine Arts and Design will present two exhibit openings featuring art and designs developed by Central students Dec. 6.The evening of exhibit openings will start with the UCO Senior Art Exhibit opening from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Melton Gallery located in the UCO Art and Design Building.
This exhibit will feature the artistic talents of seven Central art students graduating this December. This exhibit is the last project the students have to complete to gain their degrees. Their work will include pieces created through various mediums such as sculptural installations, photographic installations, traditional photography, ceramics, and paintings.
The Senior Art Exhibit will be the first student exhibit held in the Melton Gallery since its reopening in Oct. 2012.
“We are extremely pleased to have a gallery on campus that lends itself as both a resource and an opportunity for the students. This space provides students with exposure to professional artwork and the opportunity to be part of the gallery process themselves,” said Elizabeth Brown, M.F.A., coordinator of the art department’s capstone program.
The exhibit will be on display through Dec. 17.
Following the art exhibit opening, the Illustration Capstone Show opening, titled “Ocular Spectacular,” will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. at 655 Research Parkway, Suite 100, in Oklahoma City.
This exhibit will showcase illustrations created by Central design students who chose to minor in illustration.
“We have some awesome students this year; an incredible group of dedicated and talented individuals of whom I could not be more proud,” said Keith Webb, M.F.A., director of the illustration minor.
Also on display during the exhibit will be a video documenting the illustration process Central students learn in the program.
This exhibit will be on display through Dec. 13.
Both exhibits are free and open to the public.
