Registration is open through Jan. 15 for the University of Central Oklahoma's Arts Integration Conference, set for Jan. 28 in the Nigh University Center and hosted by Central's Oklahoma Center for Arts Education (OCAE).

Themed "Teaching Through Creative Experience," the conference is designed to inspire educators with ideas for incorporating the arts into core curriculum.

UCO President Don Betz will deliver the keynote presentation, addressing the importance of arts integration and creativity in the classroom.  Betz also serves as the current board chair for Creative Oklahoma, a statewide non-profit organization advancing Oklahoma's creative economy through creativity and innovation based initiatives in education, commerce and culture.           

Conference participants will also attend breakout sessions led by Central faculty members. There will be five sessions throughout the day, which will highlight each of the five departments in Central's College of Fine Arts and Design: art, dance, design, music and theatre arts.           

"We are really excited to be hosting the second annual Arts Integration Conference this year," said Ines Burnham, OCAE program manager.

"It is very important to integrate the arts into the classroom to help engage students and provide them with opportunities to express themselves artistically and creatively."
