The University of Central Oklahoma's Wind Symphony will perform three 21st Century pieces at 7:30 pm, Dec. 9 at Mitchell Hall Theater.
The program will include "Millennium Canons" by Kevin Puts, with arrangement by Mark Spede, "Serenade for Winds" by Carter Pann and "Symphony Number 5" by David Malanska.
"This is modern wind writing at its virtuosic, musically demanding best," said Brian Lamb, DMA, conductor of the wind symphony. "This concert will technically amaze and passionately move even the most discriminating listener."
The UCO Wind Symphony is the premier performing ensemble from the Wind and Percussion Division of the Central School of Music. In recent years, they have performed in Carnegie Hall and recorded a CD that has been met with praise for its historic contribution to the heritage of the American wind band.
Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, non-UCO students and UCO faculty and staff and $4 for UCO students with ID. For tickets, call (405) 974-3375.
