UCO Jazz Lab Chosen 'Best' by Readers of the Oklahoman and Oklahoma Gazette

The ballots have been counted and, once again, readers of The Oklahoman and the Oklahoma Gazette have selected the University of Central Oklahoma Jazz Lab, which houses the renowned UCO Jazz Studies Program and has hosted concerts by dozens of musical heavyweights since its opening, as a winner in each of their annual readers' choice awards.
Ballots appeared in both newspapers, asking readers to nominate their favorite people, places and events in a variety of categories. Readers then subsequently chose the winners in each category, naming the Jazz Lab as "Best Place for Jazz/Blues Music" in The Oklahoman and "Best Local Live Music Club" in the Oklahoma Gazette.
The Jazz Lab opened in 2003, and since its debut, musical greats such as Maynard Ferguson, Jerry Jeff Walker, Diane Schuur, Chick Corea, Judy Collins and Wynton Marsalis have performed on its stage.
Additionally, some of the best working musicians from around the state and nation can be seen live at the lab every Thursday through Saturday nights.
