The University of Central Oklahoma's School of Music will present a trio of jazz performances at the UCO Jazz Lab located in Edmond on 5th and Littler throughout April.    

At 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 16, the UCO student jazz ensembles will take the stage for the last student jazz ensemble concert of the academic year.  This concert is traditionally a very strong and musical jazz ensemble performance because it represents the culmination of the students' year of jazz studies.           

Featured ensembles include the Latin Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble III, Jazz Ensemble II and Jazz Ensemble I.  The top band will feature diverse music written by Toshiko Akiyoshi, Alan Baylock and an arrangement of the great standard "Cherokee" by Zac Lee, Central jazz studies graduate student.

The UCO Chamber Swingers, the Central vocal jazz ensemble, will take the stage at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 19 for a performance featuring a combination of accompanied and a cappella jazz pieces.  Student vocalists will sing arrangements of Ellington, Rodgers and Loesser, among other jazz composers.  Additionally, students will sing a variety of solos with the Central faculty jazz combo.           

Lastly, at 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 23, the Central student jazz combo groups will perform for the last time this academic year.  Featured groups include the Jazz Strings Ensemble II, Jazz Guitar Ensemble, Jazz Combo III, Jazz Combo II and Jazz Combo I.
