April Auditions Set For Summerstock Productions of 'Annie Get Your Gun' and 'Seussical'

April 4, 2011

Summerstock Productions, a partner with the University of Central Oklahoma, will audition for roles in its summer musicals "Annie Get Your Gun" and "Seussical" April 15 and 16 in Room 135 of Central's School of Music Building.

Both full-scale musicals will be performed indoors at Central's Mitchell Hall Theater, a change from the previous location of Mitch Park amphitheatre in Edmond.

Auditions for actors, ages 7-17, will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 15. Adults will audition from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Call backs will be held beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16.

Adults should be prepared to sing a portion of two musical theatre songs in contrasting styles. Youth should be prepared to sing a portion of one musical theatre song.

"This summer we look forward to getting lots of younger actors involved.  The ‘Seussical' cast will include a chorus of kids and teens and ‘Annie Get Your Gun' features at least three youngsters as Annie's little brothers and sisters," said Artistic Director Shannon Hurleigh.

Anyone auditioning should bring sheet music or a CD of their selected audition song without vocals. An accompanist and a CD player will be provided.

"Seussical" will be performed during the two weekends of June 17-19 and June 24-26. "Annie Get Your Gun" will be presented during the two weekends of July 15-17 and July 22-24. Evening shows will be performed at 8 p.m. and Saturday matinees will be performed at 2 p.m.
