In 2014, the College of Fine Arts and Design will undertake a project to expand Mitchell Hall Theater, doubling the size of this historic venue and securing its place among the best performing arts facilities in the greater Oklahoma City metropolitan area. With groundbreaking planned for August 2014, this 18-24 month expansion will add approximately 16,000 square feet to the existing Mitchell Hall footprint.

Energized by new leadership, the Build Mitchell Hall campaign is a unifying endeavor for a college poised to take the next step towards excellence. The $4.1 million project will be partially funded through the master lease program and cash reserves, so we must raise an additional $600,000 in contributed income to cover the full cost of the expansion.

Today, enrollment in CFAD’s performance-related degree programs has reached maximum capacity due to lack of rehearsal space, and the quality of our productions is inhibited by inadequate costume and dressing areas. The Mitchell Hall expansion will address this critical need for space, allowing our programs to grow and build a stronger presence in the community.

The Mitchell Hall expansion will include the following additions:

Costume Shop
Theatre Rehearsal Hall
Dance Rehearsal Hall
Dressing Rooms with Showers
Green Room/Student Lounge

Naming opportunities for these additions begin at $10,000.
