College of Fine Arts and Design
Telefund 2011
The CFAD Annual Telefund provides students with the opportunity to connect with alumni, parents, patrons, faculty, staff and friends of the University of Central Oklahoma's College of Fine Arts and Design to encourage philanthropic contributions for the many CFAD programs and scholarships. The student callers serve as ambassadors for the university and work to generate voluntary support.
The CFAD development office is committed to providing the student callers with a positive and supportive learning environment in order to lead students toward a successful work experience that will also be applicable to their future endeavors.
Last year, pledges exceeded $33,000 enabling CFAD to supplement the budget to award more than $90,000 in scholarships. This year's goal is to increase participation in the Central Annual Telefund to $35,000.
The 2011 CFAD Annual Telefund will begin on June 6. For more information, please contact the Central Annual Telefund Director, Marilyn Kreidler, at (405) 974-3768 or at mkreidler@uco.edu.

Marilyn Kreidler, Director of CFAD Annual Telefund

Marilyn Kreidler has been an Edmond resident for over 25 years and is one of our very own UCO alumnus. She comes from an exciting and diverse career path of family business; the City of Edmond's liason to the City Manager, Mayor and City Council; Assistant Vice-President and Branch Manager of two local banks; Director of the Nigh University Center; and Executive Director for a large retirement community. She says, though, that "returning to work at UCO was the best move because I returned to work with my UCO family." Being active in the Edmond community, she served on many boards and organizations such as the Edmond Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Edmond Board, Social Agency Review Commission, Edmond Fine Arts Board, Edmond Senior Community Foundation as well as the Edmond Centennial Commission as Chair. Discovering her own artistic talents has given her a true appreciation for the amazing quality and variety of arts at Central. Marilyn loves spending time with my children, especially her new granddaughter and she's very excited about her upcoming wedding in November!
Steven Myles, Student Caller

Steven is a Central senior Vocal Performance major in the School of Music. He loves that the diverse atmosphere at UCO makes it nearly impossible not to fit in: whether a student is a part of an athletic team, a musical group or some academic organization. He is proud to be a member of the Broncho family. He is also the recipient of the Kay Starr Music Scholarship. Steven appreciates the words of Abigail Adams, "Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence."
Glen Garcia, Student Caller
Glen is a Central freshman brand communications student who really appreciates the myriad opportunities UCO offers him to learn and grow as a creative professional. He really likes the words of Mohandas Gandhi, "A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history."
Emily Fry, Student Caller

Emily is a Central senior Theatre Performance major, and her favorite thing about UCO is getting to learn about what she loves, with people who love it just as much. She admires the quote by Judy Garland: "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else."
Rose Cabato, Student Caller

Rose is a Central sophomore; Nursing who loves her professors, the personable classes and the clean campus. She has been awarded two scholarships during her tenure at UCO: the University of Central Oklahoma Legacy Scholarship and the UCO Tennis Scholarship. Her favorite quote is by Rhonda Hansome: "A man's got to do what a man's got to do. A woman must do what he can't."
Taylor Carmona, Student Caller
Taylor is a Central senior Guitar Performance Major and got involved with the Annual Telefund because what she loves about UCO is how much the faculty cares about their students and how they want them to succeed. She is the recipient of the UCO Foundation Scholarship, the Irene and Julian Rothbaum Scholarship in 2010 and 2011. Taylor is also a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Academic Honor Society and the Pi Kappa Lamda Music Honor Society. Taylor lives by the Wynton Marsalis quote, "Be serious about these tasks and you'll earn the respect or jealousy of your peers. And if genius plans to meet you down the road, you won't miss the introduction, man."
Jeff Brien, Manager of the CFAD Annual Telefund

Jeff has a BA in design and a master's in teaching English as a second language. He is a three-time recipient of the CFAD Telefund scholarship, a senior graduate writing consultant at Tutoring Central, the founder and director of student organization UCONVERSATIONS, a member of the President's Honor Roll and the manager of the CFAD Annual Telefund in 2010 and 2011. Jeff says that working with the CFAD Telefund has been one of the most rewarding opportunities he's had at Central. Jeff really believes in the need for the Telefund because he studied art, music and design here at UCO and learned a great deal from his instructors and peers. He also has a lot of experience working with telephone sales, but the Telefund is something special to him because it's really been a transforming experience: he's learned a lot about how the college raises much-needed support from its alumni, faculty, and friends and has talked to some really fantastic people on the phone that are passionate about supporting UCO.
