Over the past 14 years, UCO's Broadway Tonight has served our community exceptionally well providing us with innumerable opportunities to see amazing performers. Now going on its fifteenth year, the tradition of bringing the best talent from Broadway and the silver screen to Mitchell Hall Theater has not changed. This year the performance lineup is one of the most exciting and varied that I have seen in years!
We begin this season with Judy Kuhn, Tony Award-nominee and the voice of Disney's "Pocahontas." She and the Young Voices of Edmond will be presenting a magical evening of Broadway and Disney favorites. Also, later in the season, we will have the opportunity to see Tom Wopat, "Luke Duke" from the Dukes of Hazzard, present an evening of familiar jazz and standards. There is a good chance that, like me, Tom Wopat does not immediately make you think of Broadway stage productions. However, Mr. Wopat is more at home on the Broadway stage than on the television. His Broadway credits include Guys and Dolls, City of Angels and other well-known stage productions.
We are so fortunate to live in an area of Oklahoma that believes in the arts. Broadway Tonight brings together some of the greatest talent from around the United States. I hope you tell your friends and neighbors - I am sure they will thank you for letting them know about these great performance opportunities.
Broadway Tonight is a special place in the College of Fine Arts and Design and at our university. Dr. Greg White, his staff and our faculty have put together a variety of shows that appeal to a broad audience. Beginning with its inaugural season, Broadway Tonight has sought to inform and enrich our entire community with cultural and educational offerings.
I look forward to seeing you during this spectacular season.
