Tuition Waivers/Scholarships

In-state and out-of-state tuition waivers are available for UCO Dance majors. For in-state tuition waivers, a student must be an Oklahoma resident and enrolled in 12 credit hours.  For out-of-state students, there are tuition waivers to waive a portion of the out-of-state fees.

Dance scholarships, which are awarded following the spring auditions, are determined by talent, financial need and academic scholarship. There are also cash scholarships, which can assist with tuition and books:

  • The Lorraine Remmel Watson Dance Scholarship, which is awarded to an incoming freshman and senior dance major
  • The Kaleidoscope Dancers Cash Scholarship awarded to a female dance major
  • The Warren Armstrong Dance Scholarship awarded to a male dance major

We highly recommend that if you have a high G.P.A with outstanding academic credentials that you also apply for the various UCO Academic Scholarships –please note many of the deadlines are in February or March 1.  The following link will help you determine which scholarships are best suited to your needs 2014-2015 CFAD Scholarship Information

Audition Information

Auditions for admittance to the UCO Dance Department, the UCO Kaleidoscope Dancers Company and for scholarships are held every spring. In-state and out-of-state scholarships are available.

Auditions for 2014-15 will be held on April 5, 2014 from 1:00-5:00pm.

On site audition: Please bring a recent copy of your high school/college transcript, resume, photo and 3 letters of recommendation. Be prepared to present a 1:00 minute solo if requested in either ballet, modern, or jazz.    The audition will consist of a warm-up at the ballet barre, followed by ballet, jazz and modern center work.  Bring appropriate shoes for each combination: ballet shoes (not pointe shoes), jazz shoes, and for modern there are no shoes worn. Dance attire consists of tights and leotards for women, and jazz pants and/or shorts and fitted T-shirts for men (solid colors are acceptable and for the women - no half tops or wild patterns please). Plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to auditions to register. Bring either a CD or iPod for your one-minute solos.

The Dance Department strongly recommends that each prospective student attend the spring audition, however, if an out-of-state student is unable to attend, a video audition tape may be submitted for review.
