Audition Information

Auditions for admittance to the UCO Dance Department, the UCO Kaleidoscope Dancers Company and for scholarships are held every spring. In-state and out-of-state scholarships are available.

In-state and out-of-state tuition waivers are available for UCO Dance majors and UCO Kaleidoscope Dancers. There are full and partial scholarships available for in-state students. To be eligible, a student must be an Oklahoma resident and enrolled in at least six credit hours.  For out-of-state students, there are scholarships to waive a portion of the out-of-state fees.

Dance scholarships, which are awarded following the spring auditions, are determined by talent, financial need and academic scholarship. There are also:

  ∙ Cash scholarships which help with tuition and books

  ∙ The Lorraine Remmel Watson Dance Scholarships which is awarded to an incoming freshman and a senior dance major

  ∙ The Kaleidoscope Dancers Cash scholarship awarded to a female dance major

  ∙ The Warren Armstrong Dance Scholarship awarded to a male dance major

Auditions for the 2013-2014 academic year are on Saturday, March 2, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the UCO Campus, Health and Physical Education Building. Please note the requirements for seniors in high school and/or transfer students auditioning for the BFA in Dance and the B.A. in Dance Education. Bring a recent copy of a high school/college transcript, resume, photo and 3 letters of recommendation to the audition. Recommendation letters may come from dance teachers, employers and/or school counselors. Arrive at 12:30 p.m. to fill out paper work on Saturday, March 2. The audition will consist of a ballet barre, followed by ballet, jazz and modern center work. Students need to be prepared to present a one minute solo in either modern, ballet or jazz style. Bring your music on CD or Ipod. Bring appropriate shoes for each portion of the audition: ballet shoes (not pointe shoes) and jazz shoes. You will dance in bare feet for modern.
