Multicultural Education Institute Silent Auction

UCO's Multicultural Education Institute is hosting an annual silent auction fundraiser at the MEI event scheduled for March 9-10, 2012. Pre-bidding for silent auction items is open to all campus faculty and staff prior to the Institute's event. Bidding will begin on Tuesday, March 6th and will end on Thursday, March 8th. All items can be viewed and bid on in the Millenium Conference Room located within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction - LIB 124.

The silent auction fundraiser supports our Teacher Incentive Grant program. One of the obstacles frequently encountered by teachers in the field is the lack of appropriate materials, knowledge, financial support or practical know-how for implementing multicultural approaches with their students. Dedicated teachers often reach into their own pockets for financial resources to provide enriched curricula. To assist those classroom teachers the Multicultural Institute has established an account to collect and re-distribute funds in the form of Incentive Grants. These mini-grants may be used by teachers to defray some of the expenses of implementing school activities or projects that promote acceptance and cross-cultural understanding, anti-bias, peace-making, community service or other aspects of multicultural education.

We have a large variety of donations from great businesses, organizations and individuals including artwork, kitchenware, and musical instruments. Our items can be viewed by clicking here. The silent auction will officially close its bidding at 3:30pm, March 10th. For those winning bidders who are not present at the Institute, we will hold your items and contact you on Monday of the following week.
