Graduates of master's programs in the college are frequently successful in pursuing doctoral degrees at many prestigious universities around the world. Recent graduates are now pursuing studies at institutions including the University of Texas - Austin, Texas A&M University, Arizona State University, the University of Florida, Oklahoma State University, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Curriculum and Instruction

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers programs of study leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. These programs provide high quality preparation for the teaching profession and are recognized for their excellence in the state and southwestern region. Graduate programs leading to the M.Ed. Early Childhood Education or M.Ed. Elementary Education are also available. The Bilingual Education/English as a Second Language graduate, credential program provides the student an opportunity to complete a state-approved course of study in this area while completing any teacher certification program.
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction consists of twelve full-time faculty members. All faculty members in the department have classroom teaching experience. Offices are located on the first floor of the Chambers Library.

Teacher certification is attainable upon completion of requirements and passage of certification exams for each program.
The Bilingual/Multicultural and English as a Second Language credentials are acquired by eligible certified teachers upon completion of required coursework and recommendation by the University.
Association for Childhood Education International
The University of Central Oklahoma's Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) Chapter is an involved campus organization primarily aimed at adequately equipping and preparing education majors for their future classrooms by influencing professional growth, as well as additionally concentrating on the importance of literacy within the community.
