Strategic Direction Team “A” Objectives
“Creating a Culture of Collaboration and Change”


Charge: By the end of the first 90 days, the “Creating a Culture of Collaboration and Change” team will:
  • Define the elements of Trust that create a collaborative environment at the institution. (Q1)
  • Specify how such elements of Trust can be codified and progress assessed in an institutional plan. (Q1)
  • Identify those items, issues, policies and procedures deemed ‘bureaucratic’ at the institution that may be an impediment to efficiency and effectiveness. (Q1)
  • Assign work groups to research and investigate the items, issues and practices identified as ‘bureaucratic’ to investigate feasibility of amending current policies and procedures for those things identified by team A. (Q1)
  • Define the elements of Collaboration as desired by the faculty and staff of UCO. (Q2)
  • Specify how such elements of Collaboration can be codified and progress assessed in an institutional plan. (Q2)
  • Research the components necessary to “Increase and support internal communication” by “… creating an online, universally accessible and consistently utilized repository of university Committee, Action Team and Task Force updates and reports.” (Q2)

By the end of the first 180 days, the “Creating a Culture of Collaboration and Change” team will:
  • Author a preliminary report, describing the items, issues, policies and procedures deemed ‘bureaucratic’ by Team A, to contain findings regarding legalities, opinion, best practices and other salient information – as a precursor to making recommendations for change.
  • Identify the artifacts of an “Intentional Change Culture” for the institution. (Q3)
  • Create a scorecard for codifying and assessing progress towards attaining a successful change culture. (Q3)
  • Increase the focus on nontraditional students (Q3) by:
    • Gathering and reviewing institutional data about the demographics of UCO’s nontraditional students.
    • Reviewing the current needs assessment being performed by UCO Commuter Student Services on this student population.
    • Identifying top priorities to best serve and support this student population.
  • Connect with all strategic planning groups or appropriate personnel to establish what dashboard reports and progress will be presented by all groups participating in the university’s strategic planning process, to be reviewed annually. (Q4)
  • For all tasks of Group A, obtain input from the President’s Council. (Q1,2,3,4)
