Historic Thatcher Hall

The Academic Support Center (ASC) of the University of Central Oklahoma, is located in historic Thatcher Hall. Originally established as a men's dormitory in 1937, Thatcher Hall was named for Richard Thatcher, the first president of UCO.
In 1994, a Preservation Committee was organized after University Officials announced the closing of the men's dormitory. The purpose of the Preservation Committee is to establish a museum to preserve artifacts and memories of the historic residence hall.
A "Mini-Museum" adjacent to the Hall's Lounge Area displays photo collages of the decades of dormitory life form the opening of the Hall in 1937, until it's closing.
Dorm room 136 is restored with original furniture and a display of memorabilia of an earlier time. The history of Thatcher Hall includes:
- Resident Hall for the Army and Navy pilots during World War II flight training courses.
- Resident Hall for the Air Force trainees during the Korean War and the Clerk Training Program.
- UCO's ROTC Headquarters
- Historic Campus Events
