SPARROW

The SPARROW (Student Paper Assessment, Review, & Revision On the Web) is a virtual lab created to help University of Central Oklahoma students with their writing needs.  It is a service of the Academic Support Center and priority will be given to those students' papers who are currently working with a writing tutor in the ASC writing lab.  However, our cyber tutors will be glad to answer a limited number of questions or examine papers in order to suggest improvements or revisions for all students as time permits.  This service is free for all UCO students.

Submitting your paper:  When you send your paper to SPARROW, you're actually sending it to a group of trained cyber tutors.  What that means is that your request and our response are not private communications.  When your paper is read by a cyber tutor, a maximum of 30 minutes will be spent on your paper.  The cyber tutor will NOT PROOFREAD OR EDIT a paper.  Instead a cyber tutor will comment on areas that need improvement.  Our goal is to provide you with feedback within 2 business days of your submission.  However, over weekends, holidays and during high volume times that may not be possible.  Please plan accordingly.  Please schedule an appointment with one of our writing tutors if you feel you need additional help.

*NOTE: We are not accepting Sparrow papers for the summer.

Policy of Responsibility

I understand that the ASC cyber tutors will not proofread or edit my paper, but will comment on areas that need improvement.

I understand that I have the right to reject advice given by a cyber tutor.  A cyber tutor is a UCO student and can make a mistake.

Acceptance of advice will not insure that I will receive the grade desired for an assignment.

I am responsible for the quality and content of my paper and I am the ultimate authority of my own paper.
