Test Information: | ||
| ¨ The College Board publishes the test. ¨ The CPT is computerized. However, computer knowledge is not required nor is typing skills. You only need to type basic information, such as name, SS# or ID#, and birth date. ¨ Special testing accommodations are provided upon request. (Documentation must be on file with the UCO Equity Officer.) ¨ Test components include: The Reading Comprehension Test includes questions, which involve identifying main ideas in a reading passage, applying information, and drawing inferences from a passage. A second type of question involves answering questions about the relationship between two sentences. Categories covered include social sciences, natural and physical sciences, human relations and practical affairs, and the arts. The Sentence Skills Test includes two different types of questions. The first type consists of sentence correction questions in which the student selects an appropriate word or phrase to substitute for an underlined portion of a sentence. The second type, construction of shift questions, requires that a sentence be rewritten according to the criteria shown while maintaining essentially the same meanings as the original question. The Arithmetic Test includes three different types of questions. The first involves operations with whole numbers and fractions, the second type involves operations with decimals and percents, and the third type involves applications and problem solving. The Elementary Algebra Test includes three different types of questions. The first involves operations with integers and rational numbers, the second type involves operations with algebraic expressions, and the third type involves the solution of equations, inequalities, and word problems. ¨ CPT is not timed. Each section contains about 20 questions and will take you 20-50 minutes. (Approximate time for all sections of the test is about 2 to 2 ½ hours) | ||

| ¨ You must complete the CPT before enrollment. ¨ You must show a photo I.D. when coming to test. ¨ No appointment is necessary, but testing must start at least one hour prior to the posted closing time. ¨ Choose wisely when deciding when to test. If you are ill, rushed for time, or mentally preoccupied, it might be best to test some other time. ¨ If your score is not at the required level for college level course placement you do have the option of retesting after completing a specified amount of study time in the ASC: completing recommended course work, or waiting required number of weeks as outlined in the Guidelines of the CPT Retest Policy. ¨ Testing is limited to 3 times in each subject area. | ||
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN THE ASC!
