Campus-Community Emergency Response Team
In 2010, the University of Central Oklahoma implemented a Campus - Community Emergency Response Team (C-CERT) program on campus. To date, approximately 35 people have been trained and are members of the team. The team is led by UCO’s Emergency Management Coordinator, Norman Nieves, and includes members from a number of different departments throughout the campus.
The C-CERT program trains individuals in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, C-CERT members can assist others on campus following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. If you are interested in going through the training or if you have any general questions regarding UCO's C-CERT, please contact Norman Nieves at 405-974-2219 or via e-mail at emergencymanagement@uco.edu.
