UCO EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
The mission of Employee Relations & Development is to enhance productivity and job satisfaction by improving interpersonal relationships and resolving disputes. Employee Relations & Development serves UCO in the interpretation and enforcement of university policies, procedures, practices, and external regulations related to labor/staff relations. We also provide leadership and education in the identification and resolution of concerns related to the management of university staff.
Development plays a strong role in employee relations. In response to many requests for more learning opportunities in employee relations, we host routine professional development opportunities, which can be enrolled for through the Learning Center. We have also provided managers and supervisors with additional information and forms regarding Performance Management by logging into our Wiki Central site TEAM.Management_Central.

Correction - Not Punishment
This 90-minute session focuses on coaching, redirecting and performance correction as needed, on an ongoing basis. In addition to a "how-to" presentation, time will be spent in an open forum format for management to openly discuss the emotions and responsibilities related to dealing with challenging situations, ask for input, and bounce ideas off one another. Additional discussions will take place regarding management's responsibility and accountability for ensuring poor performance/behavior is timely addressed. The University's guidelines and matrix are reviewed in detail, with an opportunity for Q&A.
Power of the 3Rs
This is a 90-minute interactive session for management to develop departmental guidelines for Recognizing, Reinforcing and Rewarding good performance as part of ongoing feedback. Participants will define what "good performance" looks like, and will compile a list of ways to recognize and reward employees. Additional discussions will take place regarding management's responsibility and accountability for ensuring this feedback takes place. The University's positive reinforcement and reward guidelines are reviewed, with an opportunity for Q&A.
