Philosophy

Our compensation philosophy supports the University's mission of investing in our people through the use of market-relevant salary ranges and transparent pay practices that help recruit and retain quality employees. To that end, our goal is to administer a compensation program that is fair, equitable, market-competitive, and financially sustainable.

The Compensation and Classification department:

  • Administers staff compensation programs and ensures that these programs are appropriate, competitive, and efficiently managed.

  • Conducts and participates in a variety of surveys and other information exchanges to keep informed of salary trends in the external market.

  • Creates a job classification system that facilitates employee training, promotions, transfers, and other personnel administrative functions.
