Housing Activities Council and National Residence Hall Honorary
Housing Activities Council
Housing Activities Council grew out of a former organization called the Residence Hall Association (RHA). The Residence Hall Association held weekly meetings with all the Hall Presidents to discuss issues regarding the system as a whole. In 2006, RHA underwent some changes to better the residential community. The new assembly, Housing Activities Council (HAC), focuses more on programming and meeting the needs of residents that live on campus as a whole. HAC was officially established in the fall of 2007.
Housing Activities Council (HAC) at the University of Central Oklahoma is a student-run governing body structured around the importance of providing student representation in the decisions that affect them and their community. Representing over 1,700 students in UCO's residential community, the assembly is an important link to the Campus community. The assembly's mandate is to "improve the quality of life in the residence halls," and with this in mind, HAC works with the division of Housing and Dining, Campus Life, campus officials, residence halls and other on-campus student organizations.
National Residence Hall Honorary
The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) recognizes the top 1% of student leaders across the United States aiding in the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) vision to provide the ultimate residence life experience. It is unique, in that it is the only honorary for students living in the residence halls and one of its main charges is to recognize those individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty to improve residence life programs through programming, community service, advocacy, and leadership development.
NRHH is a honorary organization that you must be selected to join. Applicants can either apply for membership or be nominated by a Housing official. (All applicants must have a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.5 and live in a UCO residence hall.) All the applications will be reviewed by a selection committee. Then, all applicants will be notified of the committees decision. The individuals selected will then have the opportunity to either accept or deny their nomination. The individuals will then be initiated into the University of Central Oklahoma NRHH chapter.
