Upward Bound Program

UB Summer 2012

Upward Bound is a college-preparation program designed to encourage students to develop the academic skills and motivation necessary for success in post-secondary education.  The program focuses on providing equal opportunity for:

  • Economically Challenged Students
  • Prospective first-generation college students

Upward Bound serves students from Capitol Hill High SchoolCrooked Oak High School and Star Spencer High School.

The Upward Bound Program provides participants a strong curriculum, comprehensive and appropriate activities eleven months of the year.  Once admitted to the program students may participate until they graduate from high school. During students’ senior year they participate in a year long Bridge Program. Upon high school graduation selected students participate in the Summer Bridge Program where they attend regular university courses and have an opportunity to earn six credit hours.

Participants receive a small incentive stipend based on attendance and academic performance.
