EFA Important Announcements
This notice is to let you know that at the last EFA Executive Committee Meeting of August 31, 2015, a motion was made and approved to withdraw a previously proposed amendment to the By-Laws. After further review of the wording, it was satisfactorily clarified and the board does not wish to make the previously suggested change.
SAVE THE DATE for the Fall Brunch and Business Meeting on October 3 at 10:00 a.m. The event will be held on the Patio of the Nigh University Center. In case of bad weather, the Heritage Room has been reserved. The brunch is free, but for planning purposes, please register with Donna Guinn at email@example.com or call her at 974-3551 on or before September 25, 2015.
The Publicity Committee is working on the Winter edition of the EFA Newsletter. Keith Swezey is requesting “What we are doing in retirement” articles. If you would like to share your story in the upcoming newsletter or a later one, please send it to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.

September - Larry and Leah Westmoreland - Presentation of trip to the Galapagos Islands
September 24 - Take a tour of the Devon Tower and eat lunch. Transportation will be via city bus. This tour is fully booked. We will plan another tour at a later date. Please call Carolyn Marshall at 348-2896, if you are interested in another tour.
October 1 - Kaffeeklatsch - 10:00 a.m. in Evans Hall
October 3 - EFA Fall Brunch and Business Meeting - 10:00 a.m. on the Patio of the Nigh University Center (in the Heritage Room if there is inclement weather)
October 21 - Tour of Braum's Farm and Ice Cream Plant in Tuttle. Meet at 9:45 a.m. (sharp) in the parking lot east of Wantland Stadium for transportation. Tour begins at 11:00 a.m. in Tuttle.

November 9 - Military Monday - honoring veterans attending UCO - EFA will provide lunch for veterans

The UCO Emeritus Faculty Association (EFA) was officially established on October 3, 2009 when 37 retired faculty met to adopt the By-Laws for the association, which had previously been approved by the University. At this meeting officers and directors at large were elected and committee members were sought. The organization focuses on establishing an ongoing, mutually beneficial, relationship between the University and its retired faculty.
The Association will meet semi-annually to conduct business and will sponsor social, cultural, educational, service or other activities at least once month. These activities are intended to establish or re-establish relationships between former colleagues.

The mission of the University of Central Oklahoma Emeritus Faculty Association is to promote continued campus and community involvement of retired faculty at UCO that is highly beneficial to the University and retired faculty.

Full Membership in the Association shall be open to (a) all emeritus faculty and (b) retired administrators and staff who have not served as full-time faculty, but were eligible to serve on the University of Central Oklahoma Faculty Senate. Emeritus status is granted by the Regents for the Regional University System of Oklahoma. Only full members in good standing are eligible to hold office, a standing committee chairpersonship, or be elected to the Board of Directors. Only full members of the Association are eligible to vote.
Associate Membership is available to (a) full-time faculty who have left the service of UCO without officially taking retirement; (b) active faculty who wish to become involved with the Association prior to retirement; (c) spouses of those eligible for full membership; and (d) widows or widowers of those eligible for full membership. Other membership applications will be considered by the Membership Committee on a case by case basis.
Annual dues shall be $15, with the option of a lifetime membership for $225. Membership Application Forms may be obtained from any of the officers or the membership committee, or they may be downloaded by clicking on the link Membership Application Forms.
