Academic Effectiveness

The Office of Academic Effectiveness supports the university mission of helping students learn by coordinating annual operational planning and long term strategic planning for all academic units and programs, by supporting the university's accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association, by coordinating all academic specialized accreditations, and by promoting and managing university-wide continuous improvement efforts. Both the Office of Institutional Research, which manages institutional data and reporting, and the Office of Institutional Assessment, which manages academic and institutional assessments, are housed within Academic Effectiveness.

What's New?

  • The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) site team will visit our campus on November 12-14, 2012. The HLC Website that will provide information and material for the accrediting team members, as well as for UCO faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
  • Blackboard Analytics (BbA), formerly known as iStrategy HigherEd Analytics, is a data warehousing and analytics tool that integrates directly with Banner to more easily provide data, trend analysis, dashboards, and similar tools to support better decision throughout the university. Information in BbA is accessed through Microsoft ProClarity software. Academic Effectiveness is currently working with the divisions of Enrollment Management and Information Technology to transfer some of our existing reports into ProClarity format for use by the rest of the campus. We hope to have these rolled out by Spring 2013. Additional information is available on the BbA Website.
  • This year, three UCO Action Teams are ramping up to address key issues related directly or indirectly to student learning: 1) The SPIE Action Team, 2) the Honors Action Team, and 3) the PLA Action Team. More information on these and previous Action Teams can be found by clicking on the "Action Team" links in the box on the left side of the page.
