HLC Accreditation

The University of Central Oklahoma is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association (NCA). UCO is currently preparing for its reaccreditation in 2012-13 through the PEAQ (Program to Evaluate and Advance Quality) process.

Points of Pride

Outstanding Community and Campus Collaboration Award

The Oklahoma Campus Compact has given Central the first-ever Outstanding Community and Campus Collaboration Award. It recognizes the university’s joint effort with United Way of Greater OKC to help several area non-profits.

Oklahoma Campus Compact Voter Registration Contest

For the second consecutive year, Central won the Oklahoma Campus Compact Voter Registration Contest. Last September, Central volunteers registered the greatest percentage of enrollment among Oklahoma institutions with full-time enrollments between 7,001 and 30,000. Central’s American Democracy Project (ADP) organized the effort that resulted in 627 students registering, or 4.9 percent of the full-time student body. That was almost half of the total 1,405 registered at the 13 state campuses competing.

Best Practice Grand Finalist Award

In 2011, Central won the Best Practice Grand Finalist Award at the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers (SACUBO) annual meeting for their Storm Shelter Management Practices submission, detailing improvements in preparing and communicating locations of campus storm shelters. This is the third time that Central has won this award. Central is the only university to win three Grand Finalist awards from SACUBO, whose region stretches north to south from Maryland to Florida and west to Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Research Day

Central students and faculty submitted 372 of the roughly 600 posters presented at the 2011 Oklahoma Research Day held at Cameron University. In 2013, Oklahoma Research Day returns to the University of Central Oklahoma which first hosted the event in 1999.
